Independence principles
How we keep teaching about money separate from selling financial products
In short
The full text below is what's binding.
- No companies or ads in lessons
- We never share student data
- Lecturers sell nothing at school
Why we have these principles
Konomi teaches children and young people about money. For schools, parents and students to trust it, we keep education separate from selling financial products. These principles follow the Principles of Independence in Financial Education approved by the Financial Education Working Group at the Czech Ministry of Finance, and the National Strategy for Financial Education 2.0.
1.1What they cover
All content in the Konomi app (courses, lessons, questions, practice and games), talks and workshops run by Konomi, materials for teachers, and everyone who teaches for or works with Konomi.
1.2Who is behind Konomi
Konomi is run by Richard Polanka, company ID 23559268. Konomi earns money from school licences and individual subscriptions. No bank, insurer, investment company or other financial firm sponsors Konomi or has any influence on its content.
No companies or ads in the content
We teach how financial products work and how to compare them. What anyone chooses is up to them.
2.1We don't name or recommend specific companies
Lessons don't mention any specific bank, insurer, investment platform, lender or financial adviser. When an example is needed, it's made up or anonymous. Public institutions such as the Czech National Bank, the Financial Arbiter or the Czech Trade Inspection Authority are the exception.
2.2No paid courses or logos
No company can pay us for a course, lesson, topic or mention. There are no financial company logos and no ads in the app.
2.3No offers or discounts
We don't offer students or teachers financial products, discounts, promo codes or links to sign up for them.
2.4We check it technically too
Every lesson is reviewed before it's published. Courses we build in code also go through an automatic check that won't let a lesson naming a financial company into the app.
Student and school data
Data about students, teachers and schools is used only for teaching: lesson progress, assignments, classes and results. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
3.1We don't share it with anyone
We don't pass student, teacher or school data to any company, not even in anonymised or aggregated form. We don't sell it.
3.2We don't use it to offer financial services
We will never use data from Konomi to offer financial products or services, our own or anyone else's. Contacts for students, parents and teachers are used only to run the teaching.
Who teaches for us
Talks and workshops at schools are led by Konomi lecturers who follow these rules.
4.1The lecturer introduces themselves openly
At the start they say who they are and what they do for a living. If they work in finance, for example as a financial adviser or intermediary, they tell the students and the teacher.
4.2They don't offer anything at school
They don't recommend specific products or companies, don't offer meetings or services, and don't present their own financial choices as advice.
4.3They don't collect contacts
No business cards, leaflets or QR codes, and no collecting emails or phone numbers. They share their contact only with someone who asks for it, and only outside the lesson.
4.4The teacher is present
Talks take place with the teacher present, who can stop them at any time if they feel the rules are being broken.
Partnerships
Companies can work with us, but never in a way that influences what or how we teach.
5.1Support without influence on content
A company or foundation can, for example, pay for licences for schools in its region. We always tell the school who paid. The company never appears to students in lessons or in the app and has no say over the content.
5.2We publish our partnerships
If anyone funds or supports Konomi, we will list it on this page.
If something doesn't add up
If you find anything in Konomi that goes against these principles, write to us at hello@konomi.cz. We'll get back to you within a week and fix it.
