last updated: July 2, 2026

1. Who we are and basic information

This document describes how the Konomi educational platform processes its users' personal data, in accordance with the GDPR and Czech law.

1.1 Data controller

The data controller is Richard Polanka, Company ID 23559268, based in Sousedovice, Czech Republic ("Konomi" or "we"). You can contact us at hello@konomi.cz.

1.2 Scope of processing

We only process the data we need to run the platform: information you provide yourself when registering, and data generated while using the service. We follow the principle of data minimization and collect nothing extra.

1.3 Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data based on the performance of a contract (providing the service), compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests (securing and improving the platform), and, for email news, based on your consent.

2. What data we process

The scope of processed data depends on how you use the platform.

2.1 Account data

Name, email address and password. We never store your password in readable form, only its secure cryptographic hash. Optionally a profile picture, if you set one.

2.2 Learning data

Progress in courses and lessons, quiz and practice results, earned rewards, streaks and similar data about your learning. This is how the platform remembers where you left off.

2.3 School accounts

If you use Konomi through your school, your account is linked to a class. Your teacher can see your name and your progress in the courses and assignments they gave the class. We do not share any other data of yours with teachers.

2.4 Technical data

IP address, browser and device type, and login records. We use this data solely to secure accounts and resolve technical issues.

2.5 Payment data

For paid subscriptions we process billing details and payment history. We do not store payment card data; it is processed by a secure payment gateway.

3. What we use the data for

We process your data for clearly defined purposes and only to the extent necessary.

3.1 Running the platform

Account management, access to courses, saving learning progress, running classes and assignments, technical support.

3.2 Improving the service

Aggregate statistics about how the platform is used help us decide which features to improve. For this purpose we work with data in aggregated form.

3.3 Communication

Important notices regarding your account or changes to the terms, and replies to your questions. We only send news and tips with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

3.4 What we do not do with your data

We do not sell your personal data to third parties and we do not use it for personalized advertising.

4. How long we keep the data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it.

4.1 While your account exists

We process your data for as long as you have an account on the platform.

4.2 After account deletion

After you cancel your account we delete or anonymize your data without undue delay. The exception is data we are legally required to keep, such as accounting records.

5. Data security

We protect your data with both technical and organizational measures.

5.1 Technical measures

All communication with the platform is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes and only authorized people have access to the data.

5.2 Where the data is stored

We host the data with reputable cloud service providers who meet GDPR requirements.

5.3 Security incidents

If a security incident affecting your data were to occur, we would inform both you and the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection in accordance with the GDPR.

6. Your rights

In connection with the processing of your personal data you have a number of rights that you can exercise with us at any time.

6.1 Overview of rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to data portability, to object to processing, and to withdraw any consent you have given.

6.2 How to exercise your rights

Write to us at hello@konomi.cz. We will respond to your request within 30 days at the latest. You can also delete your account at any time directly in the platform settings.

6.3 Complaints

If you believe we are processing your data in violation of the law, you have the right to file a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz).
